Senior Structural Engineer (Bridges/Buildings)

Milhouse Engineering & Construction, Inc. is an Engineering and Architecture professional full service consulting firm offering a full spectrum of engineering design services including civil, construction, electrical, environmental, mechanical, and structural as well as construction management services and complementary architectural services. These services are provided across multiple markets including Aviation, Construction, Education, Energy, Healthcare, Transportation and Water Waste/Water.

We are searching for a Structural Engineer who is able to design and lead. The position requires a Structural Engineering License in the State of Illinois and a minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience in transportation/building related structural design. Additionally, PE License and project management experience desired. This position offers a significant opportunity for advancement as we are looking to continue expansion of our company’s structural capabilities.


Job Responsibilities and Requirements: 

  •  Design to client and regulatory requirements;
  •  Manage mid to large size projects and programs;
  •  Keep Milhouse Engineering management advised of all quality, schedule and budget variances in a timely manner;
  •  Manage subordinate or other discipline resources to quality, schedule and budget requirements;
  •  Shop drawing review and disposition;
  •  Prepare project documents and reports
  •  Maintain project files;
  •  Create and enforcing project quality plan;
  •  Data and document entry into various platforms
  •  Report safety, health and quality issues to management
  •  Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claims documentation;
  •  Assist management as directed;
  •  CAD and CADD.

Minimal Education and Experience:

  •  Four year technical degree from an ABET accredited institution;
  •  PE License in Illinois;
  •  SE License in Illinois;
  •  Five to ten years of relevant experience
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel as well as ACAD or MicroStation;
  •  Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including AASTHO and AISC;
  •  Knowledge of CPM schedule analysis;
  •   Seismic experience preferred;
  •  Working knowledge of discipline specific design software and design management systems including STADD, SAP, CSIBridge or other similar software design and analysis tools;
  •  Masters Degree in Structural Engineering
