Environmental Scientist/Geologist

  Summary: Environmental Scientist or Geologist.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • The scientist will be in the field approximately 40% of the time working at commercial and industrial sites and 60% in the office preparing reports
  • Will work under the direction of a Project Manager
  • Coordinate and implement field activities including the installation of soil borings, overburden and bedrock monitoring wells and the collection of soil, groundwater, and vapor intrusion investigation samples
  • Interprets data and lab results and prepare technical reports 
  • Communicate with clients and subcontractors
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • Perform site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan and permit projects.
  • May have limited client contact pertaining to specific projects/tasks.

 

Qualifications 

           Minimum:

  • 4-year college degree in geology, biology, chemistry, environmental science or similar science degree and 3 - 5 years of experience with an environmental consulting firm
  • A masterís degree in one of the above listed fields is a plus
  • Strong understanding of one or more state regulatory clean-up programs
  • Has performed due diligence investigations including site inspections and the preparation of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)  
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
  • Flexible to work outside of normal business hours as required
  •   40-hr OSHA trained
  • Valid driverís license and good driving record
